Preparations

I have this To Do List with things I want to be done before Lincoln comes. I’ve been steadily marking things off and I’m feeling good. I rearranged our bedroom and it now feels right even though it doesn’t look quite as pretty. I’ve stocked our freezer to capacity with meals, collected everything we need for Lincoln’s first few months, managed to actually send out thank you cards in a timely manner for once, filled folders full of homeschool materials for Layla, and we finally took my Saturn into the shop. I’ve let go of cleaning out those last few random closets and cabinets. I’d still like to finish our Christmas shopping, and I’m actually pretty close. This weekend I’ll put the last few things in our hospital bags, get the changing table put together and the last loads of baby laundry prepped. I’m hoping Lincoln stays put until December, but just in case I feel like we are prepared now.

Layla is ready for Lincoln to come yesterday. We’ve been watching videos and reading books and talking about it for so long. She loved taking her big sister class at the hospital so she can attend the birth if she wants to. She’s had fun packing a backpack full of activities. We put together a family photo album for her to bring and she especially likes the baby pictures:

We’ve been keeping busy with playdates, birthday parties and meetings, but I finally feel the need to slow down a bit. I’m very proud that I still haven’t developed the pregnancy waddle though it does take me twice as long to walk places. If I go at my normal pace this past week or so I get lots of twinges and contractions - or I lose my balance which is no good. One skinned knee was enough warning so I’m trying to listen to my body and slow down. I can’t believe I’m 36 weeks though. I really do feel pretty great!

  1. Wow that’s cool that she has the option to attend the birth.
